Who We Are

This site is run by the team behind the Piti Dharr Ice Climbing Festival, based in Spiti Valley. We’ve been climbing and guiding on Indian ice for over a decade, and we built this resource because when we started, good information about ice climbing in India simply didn’t exist in one place.

The Indian ice climbing scene has grown enormously in the last ten years — more routes, more guides, more participants, and more infrastructure than ever before. We hope this site helps grow it further by making information accessible to anyone who’s curious.

Himalayan Outdoor Development (HOD)

HOD is a community initiative for climbing in the Indian Himalayas. Piti Dharr is India’s premier ice climbing festival and training programme — bringing together experienced and beginner climbers on frozen Himalayan waterfalls since 2020. Our mission: grow a culture of ice climbing in India through mentorship, community and adventure.
